Play experience
Write the play loop before the character is sculpted. Name what the child does, what triggers a response, roughly how many distinct responses are reachable, and what the toy does when it is put down and left alone. Decide whether the product talks, lights, moves, soothes or does several of those, and whether any of it has to work with no network. Say where the child is expected to hold the toy, because that is the one place a hard module must not be. Fix this list before the pattern is cut, since each trigger adds a part, a wire route and a test on the line, and a feature added later moves seams.
Soft-goods design
A soft body has to protect the parts inside it and still pass a seam and pull test. That means an internal pocket for the module, a closure method an adult can open but a child cannot, and seams routed around the hard parts rather than across them. Pile height and backing weight change how a speaker sounds and how a light reads through fabric, so approve a fabric card against the working module rather than against a photograph. Embroidery, molded parts, trims and any accessory that leaves the body each carry their own size, coating and attachment questions. Keep the character artwork, the pattern and the module placement in the same review.
Electronics
Electronics inside a soft body need a housed module, a cable route that survives hugging, and an access point placed where the seam can carry it. Agree the block diagram up front: playback IC or processor, memory, speaker, microphone, sensors, buttons, lights, motor, battery, charging and any radio function. Count the total playback minutes you need, because that is what you are buying when you buy memory. Decide the speaker size and the sealed volume behind it, since a driver muffled by stuffing is the most common reason a sample sounds wrong. Write the firmware requirements as states: startup, sleep, low battery, repeated triggers, interrupted charging and content updates.
Power and cleaning
Replaceable cells behind a screw door and a sealed rechargeable pack are different products for the parent and for the freight forwarder, so pick one before the sculpt is approved. The choice reaches the enclosure of the module, the label artwork, the instructions and the transport paperwork. Parents will try to wash the toy, so decide now whether the module is removable, what the care label says, and how that instruction survives translation into every market you sell in. If the module stays inside, the cleaning claim has to match what the build can actually take. A removable module changes the pocket, the closure and the packaging insert, so plan it with the pattern.
Sample plan
Sampling sits inside an approval-led process: a review of your brief, a feasibility plan, prototype and approval, pilot and production, then delivery and storage. The feasibility plan sets what the first sample will and will not cover. An early sample can prove size, pose, hand feel and sound with temporary materials, while a functional sample brings the fabric, the module, the acoustic path and the firmware together and exposes the problems that only appear once the electronics are inside the body. Quality and compliance
Quality is defined before the first unit: the critical characteristics for this product, an approved golden sample with tolerance rules, a functional test method for audio, sensors and buttons, and defect classification with an agreed AQL inspection level. In-process checkpoints, pre-shipment inspection and a corrective action route then keep production consistent with the approved sample.
