The whole design turns on one point: the spot where the figure meets the body has to be the spot where the antenna reads, every time, without a child hunting for it. A moulded seat, a magnet or a recess does that job, and it has to be decided before the shell is tooled. The fabric band around the lower body is the acoustic opening, so the driver position and the band height are one decision, not two.
Buyers look at this when the retail story is a growing set of figures rather than a single toy. The questions to answer are how many figures ship in the box, who encodes the tags, and whether a figure bought next year has to work with a unit sold this year.

- Tag format and encoding Settle the chip family, the data written to each tag and who writes it. Encoding in the factory and encoding in your own warehouse lead to different tooling, different packing and different ways of fixing a mistake.
- Where the antenna sits Read distance is decided by the antenna, the surrounding plastic and any metal or magnet near it. Fix the reading position in the sculpt so a child gets the same result every time rather than hunting for a sweet spot.
- Growing the library Plan how title twenty reaches a product sold with title one. Fixed onboard sets, downloadable packs and reprintable tags are three different businesses, and the enclosure has to be designed for whichever one you pick.
