The same eye led approach carried onto a chubby panda body with a much longer pile.
Large domed eyes on a long pile face are a harder fit than on a short pile one, because the fur closes over the bezel edge and has to be trimmed back by hand. Panda colour blocking then has to line up with those fixed eye positions across the ear, patch and muzzle seams. A fuller body also raises the fill weight and pushes the seams outward from the face.
Look at this one when the character has to read as a familiar animal while still carrying a hard optical part. Decide the eye diameter against the head width, and agree how the pile is finished at the bezel so the trim line is the same on every unit.

- Where the speech is handled Decide early whether responses are held on the device or come through an app and a service. That one choice reaches the board, the memory, the privacy paperwork, the retail claims and the cost of every unit after the first thousand.
- Module and mounting The board, speaker and cell need a housed pocket inside a soft body, a cable route that survives being squeezed, and an access point an adult can open but a child cannot. Place the module before the pattern is cut, not after.
- Power and charging Choose between replaceable cells and a rechargeable pack. The choice changes the enclosure, the label artwork, the instructions and the shipping paperwork, and it is expensive to change once the sculpt is approved.
- Safety and certification Set the destination markets and the age grade first. They decide which of the toy safety, chemical and radio test routes apply to a soft toy with electronics inside it, and which of them has to be repeated when you change a fabric.
- Content and language Scripts, voice casting, recording and file naming are a project of their own. Agree the language list, who owns the recordings and how a corrected line reaches production before the first sample is built.
