A fabric wrapped speaker with a magnetic figure that sits on a metal mesh top.
Two material choices define this build. The fabric wrap on the lower body is a soft finish over a moulded shell, which changes the acoustic opening and adds a cleaning question a plastic shell does not have. The metal mesh top is both the speaker grille and the seat for a magnetic figure, so magnet strength, mesh thickness and the read position have to be settled together. Decide as well what stops a child pulling the figure off and losing it.
Use this reference when the product is meant to sit in a living room rather than a toy box. Decide the figure library and how it grows, agree the fabric and how it is cleaned, and confirm the magnet arrangement against the age grade and the markets you sell in.

- How content reaches the child Cards, figures, discs and onboard memory are four different products wearing the same shell. Pick one first, because it decides the reader, the mechanism, the box contents and what you sell a customer six months later.
- Enclosure and tooling A character shell is steel tooling, so the sculpt has to be right before it is cut. Agree the parting lines, the texture and the grille pattern at the same review, since all three are visible on every unit you ever ship.
- Sound quality A small speaker in a sealed volume is the difference between a toy that sounds like a toy and one a parent leaves on. Decide the driver, the sealed space behind it and the maximum volume the product will allow.
- Power and charging Choose replaceable cells or a rechargeable pack, then decide where the port sits and how a parent knows the unit is charging. This reaches the case, the label and the transport paperwork.
- Packaging and refills Card and figure sets have to be presented in the box and reordered afterwards. Plan the tray, the starter set and the refill pack together rather than after the shell is signed off.
