Manufacturing reference
A recognisable dog breed, which brings a standard the sculpt is judged against.
A breed character is harder than an invented one because buyers know what it should look like. The beard, the ear set and the coat texture all have to read correctly, or the toy looks like a generic dog. A shaggy coat means a longer pile that hides seams but also hides the face, so the muzzle usually needs a shorter pile insert. Small upright ears are separate lined parts.
Choose this reference when the brief is a breed or a licensed animal rather than a character. Agree the reference images the sculpt will be judged against before sampling, and decide how the coat texture is achieved, since brushing, cutting and choosing a different pile give three different costs.
