Manufacturing reference
A card reader with moulded ears, a card window and no writing surface at all.
Removing the writing panel removes the most expensive component and turns the product back into what it fundamentally is: a card library and a reader. Everything then rests on the cards, their board weight, their coating and how a set is stored and reordered. The moulded ears and the small card window are what stop it looking like a bare mechanism, and the reader can be smaller because it does not host a panel.
Use this reference when the vocabulary set is the product and the hardware is a delivery method. Decide the card count and the subject list first, agree the languages, and plan the refill pack at the same time as the starter set rather than afterwards.
