Manufacturing reference
A plain writing panel with a card slot at the top and four labelled controls.
Keeping the shell rectangular and the character out of it makes the card the interchangeable part. That is a different business model to a moulded character: the hardware is neutral and the content is what you sell again. Four buttons with printed symbols instead of words is a deliberate choice that removes a translation step from every market. The slot depth and card thickness have to be fixed together.
This is the reference for a brief where the range grows through card packs rather than through new moulds. Settle the card size and board weight first, then how many cards ship in the box, and decide whether the buttons stay symbol only in every market you sell in.
